In a significant step toward providing more dignified and personalized food support, Food from the Heart (FFTH) launched its sixth Community Shop in the heart of Bedok South on Saturday, 16 May 2026.
Located at Blk 13 Bedok South Road #01-605, Singapore 460013, this new facility aims to support approximately 500 registered beneficiaries, offering them the freedom to choose food items that best suit their household needs.
From Monthly Distributions to a Permanent Hub
The journey to this new shop began in March 2024 through a meaningful collaboration between FFTH and Bedok Grassroots Organisations. What started as monthly grocery distributions at the Bedok Bunga Merah Residents’ Network Centre has now evolved into a sustainable "shop-for-free" model.
"Food support must be both reliable and respectful," says Mr. Robin C. Lee, CEO of Food from the Heart. "The Community Shop model gives beneficiaries the opportunity to select food items that best fit their household needs and preferences."
Beneficiaries can visit the shop and redeem up to 14 items each month, consisting of 12 non-perishable goods and two varieties of locally sourced leafy vegetables.
Data-Driven Support for Real Needs
By using a digital card system to track redemptions, FFTH gains valuable insights into what families actually need. This ensures that the charity can:
Stock shelves with the most popular and necessary items.
Minimize food waste.
Avoid overstocking or out-of-stock situations.
This data-driven approach ensures that every donation is used as efficiently as possible to provide consistent, relevant support.
