The East Coast family came alive on Saturday, 29 August 2026, as residents and supporters gathered at Angsana Green, East Coast Park for the inaugural Paralympic Day. The milestone event was dedicated to championing the Paralympic movement and rallying behind Singapore's inspiring para-athletes on their journey to the Asian Para Games in Nagoya, Japan.
The event was graced by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Minister of State Dinesh Vasu Dash, Adviser Jessica, and Adviser Hazlina, whose presence highlighted the significance of the occasion and the nation's collective commitment to the Paralympic movement.

The morning kicked off with a flag-off at 10am, sending participants on a scenic 3km walkathon through the lush greenery of East Coast Park. The route was designed to be accessible to all fitness levels, abilities, and ages. True to the spirit of inclusivity that defines the Paralympic movement, the walkathon welcomed everyone, from young children to seniors, able-bodied participants to persons with disabilities.
Beyond the walkathon, the carnival atmosphere buzzed with games and activities that brought the community together in a shared celebration of resilience, determination, and sporting excellence.
Today is a celebration of all our para-athletes – we celebrate your grit, your courage, your determination. These qualities are at the heart of the Paralympic Movement. And they remind us to give everyone the chance to realise their potential, and to become the best possible version of ourselves.— PM Lawrence Wong
East Coast has long been a community that embraces diversity and inclusivity, and Paralympic Day was a natural fit for this dynamic neighbourhood. The major turnout is telling of what East Coast residents are known for, a community that shows up, stands together, and lifts others higher.
As Singapore's para-athletes gear up for Nagoya, they carry with them the collective spirit of East Coast and the nation behind them. This is only the beginning of a movement, and East Coast is proud to be at its heart.
